Tier 1 General visas have replaced the HSMP visa scheme. Tier 1 General is very similar to the old HSMP visa programme. The new visa is also referred to as HSMP Tier 1. This visa leads to Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK, and British citizenship thereafter.
