Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visas

The Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa application process became active on 9th August 2011. It is the route for non-European Economic Area nationals, who are internationally recognised as the world-leading or potentially world-leading talent in science and the arts, to gain entry clearance to work in the UK.

Endorsements

There is a limit on the number of endorsements that can be given. For the period from 9th August 2011 to 5th April 2012, a total of 1000 endorsements can be given. These are shared across all 4 designated competent bodies as follows:

1. The Royal Society (for natural sciences and medical science research applications) - 300 endorsements.
2. Arts Council England (for arts and culture applications) 300 endorsements.
3. The Royal Academy for Engineering (for engineering applications) 200 endorsements.
4. The British Academy (for humanities and social science applications) 200 endorsements.

Method of Application

Applications cannot be made from the UK; they must be made from abroad.
