Provincial Nominee Program: Saskatchewan

Outline

The Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program has many distinct categories through which candidates can apply.

Candidates can apply for themselves and there are no points based assessments.

Process

The sub categories are as follows:

Skilled Workers

Applicants who wish to apply through the skilled worker option must have a permanent full time job offer from a company that is based in Saskatchewan or have worked for at least six months in Saskatchewan on a temporary Canadian work permit.

Entrepreneurs

Applicants who wish to come to Canada under the entrepreneur scheme are required to have sufficient funds to invest in establishing a new business venture or for the purposes of entering into a partnership. Candidates must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Have a minimum personal net worth of CDN$250,000
  • Able to show established management experience, and operate in a managerial position in the new business
  • Provide a comprehensive business plan outlining how the business will generate jobs in the province and benefit Saskatchewan
  • Visit the province at least once to meet the necessary business and economic development authorities
  • Disclose all assets and debts

Long Haul Truck Drivers

Candidates who wish to immigrate to Canada through this scheme will be required to have temporary job offers from Saskatchewan haulage firms as well as have a Canadian work permit.

They must also satisfy the following requirements:

  • Have a valid truck licence which is comparable to a Saskatchewan Class 1A driver's license
  • Have at least 2 years truck driving experience
  • Be willing to travel to the US, if it is required by an employer
  • Have an adequate grasp of the English language.

Health Professionals

Candidates who wish to apply under the Health Professional stream must be working in Saskatchewan on a temporary permit and already have an offer for a permanent full time position.

Students

Students who wish to apply under this stream must have graduated from a full time course of study in Saskatchewan which lasted for a minimum of one year.

Applicants must also have worked for a Saskatchewan based employer for a minimum of six months by obtaining a Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) post graduation work permit.

Applicants are also required to have a current permanent full time position which has been offered from their employer.

Farmers

This stream is designed for individuals who have experience in farming and significant capital to invest in farming operation and who wish to purchase and operate a farming operation in Saskatchewan.

Applicants will need to have a signed offer to purchase land or an existing farm and must also visit the province within two years before putting forward the offer.

Applicants will also need to prove that they have sufficient knowledge of operating a farm.

Family Members

Applicants who wish to apply through this stream must have a permanent job offer from a company that is based in Saskatchewan or propose to find a permanent job. Further to this, applicants must also satisfy the following requirements:

  • Provide a signed affidavit of support from a family member who is based in the province
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 49
  • Have studied for a minimum of one year of secondary education training or apprenticeship
  • Have completed a minimum of one year work experience in the selected profession
  • Have an adequate grasp of the English or French language needed to be employable in Saskatchewan
