The Prince Edward Provincial Nominee Program is designed to allow candidates who wish to migrate to Canada to live and work on a permanent basis as either a skilled worker, entrepreneur, investor or through family ties to the province.
Individuals who wish to migrate to Canada through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program can apply for themselves. While some of the different streams employ a points based system, candidates are not assessed against the Federal assessment criteria.
Process
There are four different ways candidates can apply under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program.
Prince Edward Island Skilled Worker
This category is for professionals or skilled workers who would like to work in Prince Edward Island. Individuals are required to find their own employment and once they have found a position and contacted the prospective employer who has offered them a job, the company will begin the process of obtaining a work permit.
Applicants are also required to satisfy the following:
- A score of 50 points or more on the self assessment criteria
- Training and education in line with the position that the applicant intends to take up
- An adequate grasp of English or French if it is required for the position
- The intention to settle in the province permanently
Prince Edward Island Immigrant Entrepreneur
This visa is for individuals who wish to migrate to Canada for the purpose of establishing a business in the province. Candidates will need to satisfy the following requirements:
- Have a minimum net worth of CDN$400,000
- Have an appropriate in depth business plan which would be suitable to the province
- Make a deposit of CDN$100,000 which will then be returned after the first year of residency and once the business has been successful
- Make a deposit of CDN$25,000 as a good faith deposit which will be returned after the first year of residence
- Have an adequate grasp of either English or French and to be interviewed in one of these languages.
- Candidates will also need to satisfy requirements concerning their age, education and business experience.
Prince Edward Island Immigrant Connections
This visa is for applicants who wish to immigrate to Canada and have a family member who is already established in Prince Edward Island. The established family member may sponsor the applicant who they wish to be nominated by the province to immigrate to Canada.
Applicants will need to satisfy the points bases criteria.
Sponsors will need to fulfil the following requirements:
- They must have lived in Prince Edward Island for longer than 2 years after receiving their Canadian immigration visa
- Sponsors must be able to prove they have a reliable and consistent source of income on which they can support themselves and their dependents
