Provincial Nominee Program: Manitoba

Outline

The Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program is a different provincial scheme in that is allows candidates to apply for themselves provided they have met the necessary requirements.

This varies from other schemes such as that of Alberta which are employer led processes and must be based on a guaranteed job offer.

In Manitoba, there are two main streams in place. They are the Priority Stream and the General Stream which give priority to those applicants who already have a job offer.

There are various categories under the Priority Stream, they are as follows:

Employer Direct Scheme

To fall into this category, applicants must have a job offer for full time work which has been pre approved by the Manitoba Nominations Scheme.

Alternatively, applicants must have a permanent full time job offer, a Canadian work permit and have worked in Manitoba for the employer for a minimum of six months.

International Student Stream

This option is for candidates who have graduated and established strong ties to Manitoba and wish to live, work and establish themselves there. This stream requires applicants to have a full time job offer in addition to a temporary work permit.

Family Support System

This category requires a close relative who lives in Manitoba to sign an affidavit of support. Applicants are required to show that they have a close relative who is an established resident of Manitoba and who is prepared to support their settlement in the province.

Applicants will also need to meet the minimum requirements concerning age, education, experience and language.
