Points Based System

The Points Based System is the system by which applicants can obtain entry clearance (visas) to enter the UK, provided they meet the necessary requirements. We can assist you with any queries which you may have on the Points Based System and with any subsequent applications that you decide to make under the Points Based System.

The features of the Points Based System are:

  • It combines more than 80 pre-existing work and study routes in to the UK into five tiers:
    1. Tier 1
    2. Tier 2
    3. Tier 3 (N.B. no applications can currently be made under this tier)
      • Tier 3 Unskilled
    4. Tier 4
    5. Tier 5
  • Points are awarded for workers’ skills and also the demand for these skills in any given sector, to enable the UK to respond flexibly to changes in the labour market.
  • It is a transparent, objective, and fair system, which enables migrants to assess the likelihood of making a successful application and should therefore help to reduce the number of failed applications.

Our lawyers at Mulberry Finch possess the knowledge and experience to assist you with any queries that you have regarding the Points Based System, including if you are seeking to obtain a visa under any of the tiers. We have the expertise to assess your circumstances and advise on your application under the Points Based System, dealing with both straightforward and complex cases.

Impressed with the empathy and support shown by the lawyer and the fact that I felt I had 'a voice' in the proceedings.
