The Australian minister for Immigration, Amanda Vanstone has used a private database containing highly confidential information about employers and employees to “gain cheap points” critics argued today.
Ms Vanstone criticised a host of employers and their Unions in a general swat at what she describes as a “failure to maintain adequate compliance procedures”. The minister has been accused of breaching privacy legislation by her actions in order to gain very little output – instead alienating many unions and large employers with what many have called a “witch hunt”.
Nearly 45,000 workers will be hired from abroad this year to take on work in various sectors covering semi -skilled and un-skilled labour shortages.
