Employment contracts are the central source of Employment Rights and responsibilities. While many terms will be standard, the terms of employment contracts should reflect the requirements of both you and your employer.
Employment contracts are often lengthy and complicated. It is important that you never sign anything unless you are 100% certain of its meaning. Employers often use standard employment contracts. However, in most circumstances these employment contracts will not properly reflect the expectations of your employer, you or both. We can review your employment contract to ensure you understand all the terms of your contract.
It can be difficult to know which terms are required by law and which are capable of limitation or total exclusion. In general, an employment contract should outline all the basic employment rights and responsibilities including duties, working hours, annual leave and your employer's disciplinary procedure. However, employment contracts can do much more than that and offer significant protection to both employees and employers.
The terms of your employment contract may need to be changed, for example if you are promoted or if your working hours change because you start flexible working. If you feel that your employer is unreasonably varying the terms of your contract, or breaching your contract, we can advise you.
I felt listened and understood by Anna and her advice was clear and very professional.
