Requesting a reprint of an HSMP letter

If you need to obtain a reprint of your HSMP permit approval letter, note that there are only a handful of scenarios that allow for a reprint to be issued.

Where a reprint is allowed, there is no charge to obtain a replacement HSMP permit. With the exeption of lost permits, you will need to return the original HSMP permit to the UK Border agency before a replacement permit will be issued.

Omissions and Errors

If there are any spelling errors, such as a misspelled name, or an incorrect date of birth, you should obtain a reprint of your HSMP letter before applying for Entry Clearance. You will need to return your original HSMP permit before the UK Border Agency will issue a corrected permit.

Lost Permit

If your HSMP permit was lost in the post, from the UK Border Agency, then you can obtain a reprint.

If you eventually receive the original letter, you must either destroy it or return it to the UK Border Agency, as it will have been superseded by the HSMP reprint, and therefore will no longer be valid.

Expired HSMP permit

HSMP letters are issued with a validity of 6 months. You must apply for Entry Clearance within 6 months of the date of issue of the permit.

If you miss this deadline, for any of the reasons below, you will need to obtain a reprint, giving you a further 6 months to obtain Entry Clearance.

Postal delay

If your HSMP permit has been delayed in the post, you can return it requesting a reprint, with a new validity date.

Entry Clearance approval delay

If you have made an application for Entry Clearance, and the processing of the Entry Clearance application by the British Embassy has resulted in a delay that is beyond your control, for example, a rejection that was overturned on appeal, you may need to obtain a reprint before succesfully obtaining your Entry Clearance.

You will need to return the HSMP permit, unless the Embassy has retained the original.
