Fiancé(e) Visas

This visa allows an applicant to enter Australia and marry their fiancé(e) within the visa's nine month validity period. The marriage must take palce during this period. 

Eligibility Requirements

The following requirements must be met before an application for a fiancé(e) visa will be approved.

To apply for a fiancé(e) visa, you must be of the opposite sex to your fiancé(e). Same sex couples are not eligible for a fiancé(e) visa.

Your fiancé(e) must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen. Your relationship must be genuine, and the main purpose for comming to Australia must be to marry your fiancé(e) and live as husband and wife.

You and your fiancé(e) must know each other. You need to prove that you have already met face to face.

You must have both reached an age allowing you to legally marry in Australia. You and your fiancé(e) must not be under the age of 18, unless an Australian court grants you a court order allowing you to marry or you can demonstrate that you and your fiancé(e) will have reached the age of 18 before during the period of your visa, and will therefore be able to marry in Australia.

Applicants must also be outside Australia when applying and when receiving the fiancé visa.
