Remaining Relative

This visa allows applicants who do not have close family ties or close relatives other than those living in Australia to join their family in Australia. Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  • If you have a brother, sister, or parent (may also be step equivalent) who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who usually resides in Australia; and
  • You and your spouse have no brothers, sisters, non-dependent children (may also be step equivalent) other than those living in Australia.

In addition, you must also be sponsored by an eligible sponsor, such as your sibling, parent, step-parent, or spouse who are settled and reside in Australia. The sponsor must also be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.

Carer

This visa allows people who are needed to look after an Australian relative or a member of their family who has a medical condition. If the relative requires care due to suffering from either a physical or mental illness and cannot care for themselves, and requires care for no less than two years, you may qualify for a Carer visa.

In order to apply for this visa, an applicant must be sponsored by either their Australian relative or their Australian relative's spouse.

Aged Dependant Relative

Elderly relatives who would like to join their relatives in Australia can apply for an Aged Dependant Relative visa. Elderly relatives must have been financially dependent on their Australian relatives for no less than three years.

The relative providing the support must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident for at least two years. 

Aged Parent

Parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents wishing to join their children in Australia can apply for an Aged Parent visa. You must have already reached the retirement age in Australia and your child must sponsor you to qualify for this visa.

Resident return visa

Former Citizens who have since lost their Australian Citizenship, and permanent residents who wish to return to Australia can apply for a resident return visa (RRV).

Orphan child migration

This visa allows children who are less than 18 years of age and without any parent care overseas to join a sibling, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, or grandparent in Australia.

Adoption Migration Visa

The Adoption Migration visa allows Australian citizens or permanent residents to bring a child less than 18 years of age to Australia for adoption. The process of Australian adoption should already be in progress before you apply for the visa.

Former resident visas

The Former Resident visa allows candidates who have spent half of the first 18 years of their lives as a permanent resident in Australia to return. You will need to apply before you reach the age of 45. The visa is for candidates who have not previously become Australian citizens but have kept close ties with Australia.

Alternatively, you may be eligible under the Former resident visa category if you have completed no less than three months of Australian defence service. If you were discharged due to becoming medically unfit during your service, prior to meeting this requirement, you may also qualify.

Aged Dependant Relatives

An Aged Dependant Relative visa allows elderly relatives to join their relatives in Australia. If you were financially dependent on your Australian relative for the last three years and your relative has been an Australian citizen or permanent resident for the last 2 years, you may qualify.

Working-Age Parents Migration Visa

This visa allows working-age parents of Australian permanent residents or citizens to join their children in Australia.
