Employer Nomination Scheme - Onshore in Australia or Overseas application
This type of visa is employer sponsored. Permanent residents who come to Australia under this scheme already have a job in Australia. You are also eligible to apply for this visa if you hold a Temporary Working Visa, a Working Holiday Maker or a Skilled Graduate Visa. With this type of visa, your Australian employer is your sponsor.
The primary focus of this visa is to encourage more skilled workers to come to Australia. There is currently a high demand for skilled workers, in particular, those with trade skills.
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme
This visa allows employers who live further out of the city to find skilled workers.
When applying for this visa, applicants must be willing to live in the country or one of the smaller Australian capital cities. Applicants can apply for this visa both onshore and offshore. Applicants who wish to apply while in Australia must hold a qualifying visa with a working provision.
If both the employer and employee satisfy the necessary requirements and can meet their obligations under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme, they can begin the 3 step application process as follows:
- The employer is required to apply for certification of a nominated person with the Regional Certifying Body.
- The employer must then lodge the certified nomination application with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)
- The employee must apply for the relevant visa to work in Australia.
