Claiming Asylum

In order to claim asylum and gain recognition as a refugee, it will be necessary to demonstrate that you have left your country of origin and are unable to return because you have a well-founded fear of persecution there.

• Advising you on the preparation of all supporting documents for your asylum claim;
• Advising on the process of asylum claims being made by children;
• Explaining what you can expect to take place at your appointment with the ASU; and
• Assisting you in making written representations to the UK Border Agency about the nature of your claim.

Following the outcome of your asylum claim, we will be able to clearly explain the consequences of the decision and what action will need to be taken by you. For example, should your asylum claim be unsuccessful, we will assist you in lodging an appeal to challenge the negative decision, or submitting a Human Rights based application for temporary permission to reside in the UK for humanitarian reasons.
